The ASSOCIATE MANAGER, SUSTAINABILITY & SOCIAL IMPACT REPORTING will run the day-to-day data management, reporting, verification, monitoring and evaluation of Vita Coco’s impact programming. As a key contributor to the development of the Company's overall strategy, the role will track Vita Coco's progress against its impact goals, including data related to environmental metrics, DEI and human capital data, and social impact reporting. The Associate Manager will also have the opportunity to work with a wide array of stakeholders from supply chain to HR to sales, developing key metrics to measure the efficacy of our impact programs. 

THIS ROLE IS BASED OUT OF OUR NYC HQ REPORTING DIRECTLY TO THE MANAGER, SUSTAINABILITY & SOCIAL IMPACT. 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Data Management & Analysis

  • Support the Program Manager of Sustainability & Social Impact on all things related to sourcing communities, including key initiatives like the Vita Coco Project®, Seedlings for Sustainability, and the Vita Coco Community Foundation. 
  • Collaborate with various departments to collect, validate, and analyze data on sustainability and social impact metrics, including energy use, carbon emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3), waste reduction, packaging and circularity, water usage, HR, DEI initiatives, and community investments. 
  • Identify data gaps and opportunities; create new processes for data measurement, input, and verification. 
  • Develop processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with reporting standards. 
  • Work closely with Vita Coco’s operations team to analyze projects supporting carbon footprint reduction, renewable energy, water conservation, responsible packaging, and regenerative agriculture. 

Reporting & Compliance   

  • Prepare annual ESG data for impact reports aligned with frameworks such as GRI, SASB, TCFD, or the SDGs. 
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements, including SEC climate disclosures, Annual reports, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and similar reporting disclosures. 
  • Monitor emerging ESG reporting standards and recommend updates to internal reporting practices. 
  • Manage internal ESG impact scorecard, including key ambitions, tracking and communication to Vita Coco employees. 
  • Retailer & investor surveys: manage Vita Coco’s response on various reporting surveys (e.g. Gigaton, THESIS, MSCI, ISS, Sustainalytics) 
  • Track Vita Coco’s HR and Culture & Belonging program metrics including but not limited to employee volunteering, learning & development, representation data, product donations, to create rich insights for storytelling with our partner functions. 

Program Management

  • Lead the management of Vita Coco’s ESG data management systems. 
  • Support the development and implementation of third-party verifications or audits of ESG data (e.g. ISO 14001, SMETA) 
  • Lead in the mapping and documentation of Vita Coco systems and processes for ESG related data points, including the creating of frameworks and databases to ensure richer data and transparency. 
  • Support and lead in key areas of Vita Coco’s re-certification of third-party assessments such as B Corp. 
  • Support impact business partnerships, including tracking existing partner programs and the research, vetting, and set up of potential new nonprofit partners 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in Data Science, ESG Reporting & Metrics, Sustainability Program Management, ESG, or related role. 
  • Degree in Sustainability, Social Impact or relevant field a plus. 
  • Deep knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., CDP, GRI, SASB, CSRD). 
  • Experience with ESG data platforms (e.g., Workiva, EcoVadis, Carbon Cloud, HowGood). 
  • Analytical and project management skills to handle complex data sets and deadlines. 
  • Clear understanding and proficiency in calculating GHG emissions for scope 1, 2, and 3. 
  • Have a deep understanding of environmental impacts of supply chains, agricultural communities, and key issues in society. 
  • Able to communicate competently on a wide array of ESG issues. 
  • Be a proactive self-starter and independent thinker but a team player. 
  • Experience in sustainable communications, including annual report copywriting a plus. 
  • Experience in non-profit relationship management. 
  • Have strong time-management skills and highly organized. 

At The Vita Coco Company, compensation decisions are dependent upon a variety of factors, which may include, but are not limited to: skill set, experience, education, training, licensure and certifications, knowledge and abilities of the applicant, alignment with market data, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current pay range for this position is $80,000-$90,000. This range may vary for positions that will be performed outside of California, Colorado, Nevada, New York City, Westchester County, NY, Rhode Island, or Washington.
